ABOUT DIETS2 - Project number: 177201-LLP-1-2010-UK-ERASMUS-ENWA

Duration: 3 years from October 2010 to September 2013

Coordinator: DIETS2 was led by Prof. Anne de Looy from the University of Plymouth (UK).

Project Partners: The DIETS2 Thematic Network had 95 beneficiaries from 31 European countries that shared a commitment to better nutritional health for the European community.

Source of funding: the network was funded by the European Commission Thematic Network (Socrates)

AIM

The theme of the network was Dietitians’ ensuring education, teaching and professional quality.

Role of EuroFIR AISBL in DIETS2

EuroFIR AISBL was contributing to the application of innovative online tools for dietitians, training support and dissemination as part of the Continual Professional Development for dietitians in Europe. EuroFIR AISBL was coordinating testing and possible use of the Open Platform (an online tool in the field of nutrition from the JSI, SI) in the DIETS2 for long-term use by dietitians.

In addition, EuroFIR AISBL led the development of the “DIETS database of materials in enquiry based teaching” for dietitians, coordinating the first pilot phase and the database development with WP partners and software developers.

EFAD

OPEN Platform for Clinical Nutrition (OPEN) is a web-based application that supports food and physical activity recording and diet planning as well as 24 hour recall and food frequency questionnaires including photographs. OPEN was developed by the Computer Systems Department of theJožef Stefan Institute (Ljubljana, SI) in cooperation with Sonce.net(SI). This work was performed, in part, on behalf of EuroFIR NEXUS (GA no. 265967) and DIETS2 (EACEA (2010-13), and supported by the European Federation of the Association of Dietitians (EFAD).
