
﻿{"id":183,"date":"2015-03-02T15:24:11","date_gmt":"2015-03-02T14:24:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bacchus.jeproduction.com\/?page_id=183"},"modified":"2017-10-26T10:59:19","modified_gmt":"2017-10-26T09:59:19","slug":"events","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.eurofir.org\/bacchus\/events\/","title":{"rendered":"Events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Food Bioactives &amp; Health Conference<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(13-15th September 2016 &#8211; Norwich, UK)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2416 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/eurofir.eu\/bacchus\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/03\/Norwich_0707-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>BACCHUS was a significant contributor to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fbhc2016.com\">1st International Conference on Food Bioactives and Health<\/a> that was held in Norwich, host\u00a0city\u00a0of the BACCHUS coordinator, IFR (UK).\u00a0Numerous\u00a0oral and poster presentations at the conference came from BACCHUS activities, making it an\u00a0excellent high-impact dissemination event. BACCHUS also\u00a0had a strong presence amongst\u00a0delegates with the distribution of dissemination materials, such as an exhibition, roll-up, posters, leaflets and flyers. Responses from participants towards BACCHUS was positive and they asked for more information about\u00a0the project outputs including the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bacchus-fp7.eu\/Resources\/\">toolkit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The last consortium meeting was held prior the conference (12.9.2016 ) with the majority of partners attending.<\/p>\n<p>Photographs from the event &#8211; Budapest, HU)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2491 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/eurofir.eu\/bacchus\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/03\/BUDAPEST_00183-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>This workshop was an opportunity for SMEs, larger companies, research institutions and consultants involved in health claims dossiers to discover more about the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bacchus-fp7.eu\/Resources\/\">BACCHUS toolki<\/a>t, gain a better understanding of the EFSA decision process for\u00a0health claims applications, and exchange views with other actors on how to achieve a successful health claims<\/p>\n<p>The workshop was attended by 46 people from different fields and, although topics were presented in theatre-style,\u00a0the workshop emphasised interactive discussion, case studies and study design (see below):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Brief history of nutrition and health claims regulations<\/li>\n<li>Common deficiencies in application dossiers and problems encountered<\/li>\n<li>Definition of novel foods and other relevant legal categories<\/li>\n<li>EFSA guidance documents on nutrition and health claims<\/li>\n<li>EFSA dossier project management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Photographs from the event &#8211; Brussels,\u00a0BE)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2442 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/eurofir.eu\/bacchus\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/Brussels_00097-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>The workshop was delivered in two parts, specifically presentations to help inform the delegates and interactive sessions about SME needs with respect to health claims to help inform BACCHUS activities.<\/p>\n<p>The presentations focused on BACCHUS early\u00a0results, the European\u00a0health claim landscape, best practice guidelines and EFSA\u00a0requirements.\u00a0The interactive session\u00a0focused on real-world example and sharing know-how regarding health claims applications.\u00a0The workshop was attended by more than 40 participants from both industry and academia.<\/p>\n<p>Photographs from the event &#8211; Valencia, ES)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2513 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/eurofir.eu\/bacchus\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/03\/Valencia_0644-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>At the third consortium meeting, partners were updated on progress and new deadlines and goals were set.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the Dissemination workshop was to agree\u00a0the programme for the second SME dissemination workshop (see above), present the BACCHUS\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bacchus-fp7.eu\/Resources\/\">toolkit<\/a> (including the elearning platform), and establish\u00a0interest amongst\u00a0SME\u00a0partners.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The outputs of this workshop\u00a0were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Second SME-focussed workshop in June 2015 in Budapest (HU)<\/li>\n<li>Creation of new content for the elearning platform including:\n<ul>\n<li>Reviewed\/ revised best practice for health claims, based on WP1 outputs<\/li>\n<li>Results from the WP1 Survey exploring the impact of health claims legislation on SMEs<\/li>\n<li>Case studies on (un)successful health claim dossiers<\/li>\n<li>Updated glossary enriched with new terms and definitions<\/li>\n<li>Model dossier<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Photographs from the event &#8211; Gent, BE)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2468 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/eurofir.eu\/bacchus\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/Ghent_0104-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>At the second consortium meeting, partners were updated on progress, and new deadlines and goals were established.\u00a0The aim of the elearning content workshop was to decide on the format of the elearning scenarios, outline the content of the first module, decide on the programme for future\u00a0SME dissemination workshops (see above), and obtain feedback from SME partners about understanding of health claim applications and supporting research (understanding), experience of health claims process (experience), and delivery and use of information to achieve a health claim (needs).<\/p>\n<p>Photographs from the event &#8211; Budva, ME)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2525 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/eurofir.eu\/bacchus\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/03\/Montenegro-people_2013-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>The aim of the first consortium\u00a0meeting was to establish\u00a0goals for immediate\u00a0future, based on the Description of Work.<\/p>\n<p>Potential eBASIS &#8216;evaluators&#8217; were sourced from amongst WP3 partners before the workshop and assigned to one of four groups, based on their expertise: Composition \u2013 (1) polyphenols and (2) meat bioactive peptides and beneficial bioeffects \u2013 (3) polyphenols and (4) meat bioactive peptides. They also received\u00a0three typical\u00a0papers and standard operating\u00a0procedures\u00a0for eBASIS \u00a0data entry.\u00a0The workshop covered all aspects of data entry\u00a0including how to extract information from peer-reviewed publications and to input data correctly, and how publications\/ data should\u00a0be weighted for quality.
