Temporary Food and Nutrition Researcher/Policy Specialist 

We are seeking a food and/or nutrition researcher with policy experience/policy specialist with food research experience who can contribute to four EU-funded projects as well as Association business:

· Pathways to fair, inclusive, and innovative data economy for sustainable food systems (ALLIANCE)

· European integration of new technologies and social-economic solutions for increasing consumer trust and engagement in seafood products (FISHEUTRUST)

· Waste quantification solutions to limit environmental stress (WASTELESS)

· Technologies that will assist food chain stakeholders in rapidly identifying and preventing the spread of fraudulent practices (WATSON).

 

The candidate needs to have some experience of some of the following:

· Preparation and planning of use case scenario with food user communities/stakeholders, supporting pilot demonstrations/living labs and compilation of reports and deliverables

· Dissemination and communication of results including impact assessment

· Data collection, management, and integration considering Open Science and FAIR principles to promote interoperability, management, and governance of data in general but food loss and waste data specifically

· Development of tools for user communities, specifically to support valorisation of common food waste and side streams in Europe

· Evaluation of impacts, especially environmental, social, and economic factors, in integration of technologies to advance transparency of the seafood supply chain and digital solutions for increasing consumer awareness, trust and empowerment

· Development, coordination, and integration of e-platform and/or WordPress websites

 

The successful candidate will have experience in compilation and management of datasets especially food data and data exchange, including web and software tools for interrogating food data. An interest in nutrition and health, especially exploitation of food information for the benefit of European food businesses and consumers is essential. Experience of working in international collaborative research and innovation projects is crucial. Wider experience of nutrition related research and a track record of publications and contribution to funding proposals would be an advantage. Additional activities may include dissemination activities related to EuroFIR projects and outreach activities with key stakeholders.

Required education and experience

· MBA, Pg.Dip, PhD, MSc., BSc or equivalent AND

· Experience in compilation, management, and use of data

· Capacity to deliver tasks independently

· Innovative and critical thinking

· Excellent IT and computer literacy

· Excellent team player and willingness to work with virtual teams

· Good communication skills and ability to explain ideas to non-experts

· Excellent written and spoken English

· Availability to travel independently and work flexibly, as required

 

Salary and benefits

· An initial contract of 12 months contract, subject to funding and performance;

· A salary based on requested level of education and professional experience and other benefits (13th month, meal vouchers, intervention in public transports and homeworking allowances);

· Part-working from home

· Professional experience in an international environment
