INSA’s Food and Nutrition Department Hosts the 16th Annual PortFIR Meeting | 17-18 October
The Food and Nutrition Department (DAN) of the National Institute of Health Doutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA, IP) will host the 16th PortFIR Annual Meeting on October 17-18, 2024.
The event aims to:
- Present and discuss current food systems and their impact on human and planetary health;
- Address strategies, projects and initiatives, from both public and private sectors, aimed at transitioning to sustainable production and consumption, promoting healthy diets, reducing carbon footprint, and combating climate change;
- Reflect on the research and scientific knowledge production needs that underpin the impact of different production methods on food composition, soil, climate, and health;
- Disseminate research works in the fields of food, nutrition and food safety.
The 16th PortFIR Annual Meeting will feature an inaugural conference by Dr. Colin Sage, Independent scholar on food systems & sustainability, titled “Food Systems for Sustainable Diets and Planetary Health: The need for multi-level, transdisciplinary thinking.“.
This initiative, intended for the PortFIR networks members, health professionals, laboratories, scientific and academic communities, food and distribution experts, and all others interested in this topic, will take place both in person and online.
