This prestigious recognition celebrates the joint efforts of experts from Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and North Macedonia, who built a unique regional collaboration to address critical gaps in food composition data and dietary surveillance.

Key Achievements:

  • Creation of the first regional Food Composition Database (FCDB) aligned with EuroFIR™ standards.
  • Development of the Diet Assess & Plan (DAP) software for harmonized dietary intake assessment.
  • Successful implementation of EFSA-compliant national food consumption surveys across four countries, engaging over 9,000 participants.
  • Training of more than 300 professionals, strengthening regional capacity in nutrition data collection and analysis.

The recognition at this global conference confirms the impact of our work in shaping nutrition research, policy, and sustainable food system transformation—while setting a model for regional integration in Europe.

Congratulations to the entire Balkan-United team for this remarkable achievement and for advancing the evidence base in nutrition for a healthier future!
