    The descriptor for VITC should not be "vitamin C (ascorbic acid)" – it should be Vitamin C! Ascorbic acid is another component!

    Yes, the "(ascorbic acid)" text should not be in the descriptor and should be deleted in version 1.3 of the thesaurus.

    Ascorbic acid is not a Synonym for VITC, but should it be included as a Related term?  Vitamin C activity is the simplest summation calculation, being the sum of L-ascorbic acid and L-dehydroascorbic acid, i.e.:

    VITC = ASCL + ASCDL

    Also, VITC might be determined analytically.  What should be included in the Component Thesaurus as documentation for the VITC, ASCL and ASCDL entries?  How should any such information be linked to corresponding entries in the Method Indicator Thesaurus (and vice versa)?  Should the two thesauri refer to any external sources of information containing guidelines on the analytical and calculation methods involved?

    These are matters of general policies for the Component and Method Indicator thesauri, but perhaps Vitamin C provides a conveniently simple case with which to start developing the policies.
