A new version of the Swedish Food Composition Database

There is a new version of the Swedish Food Composition Database (The Swedish Food Agency food database, version 2024-05-29). In this latest version several food items have been added and many values have been updated for older food items. Snacks, pizza and minced meat are examples of food items that have been added and/or updated. Adjustments have also been made in the underlying calculations, which means that many food items have received updated nutritional values.

Data is available on the Swedish Food Agency’s website and can be retrieved in three different ways. Data can be searched on the search engine Search for nutrients where it also can be downloaded as excel. Data can also be retrieved through an application program interface (API). The API is brand new and allows for users to retrieve data in the format Json. For each food item, values are given for over 50 nutrients. Additional information such as FoodEx2, LanguaL™ and raw agricultural commodities can also be found.
