2020-09-18 PERSFO Update …
Personalized and connected food service providers (PERSFO, Project ID20291) started officially in January 2020 with funding from EIT Food
. This project brings together a group of beneficiaries with expertise in personalised nutrition, artificial intelligence, catering services, consumer behaviour, and business development. PERSFO aims to incorporate artificial intelligence with food service providers’ platforms to deliver scientifically validated personalised dietary advice via recommender app (PERSFO app) that will help support customers achieve (nudge) eating goals in the workplace.
PERSFO builds on a previous EIT Food-funded project, Quisper
(2018 ID18064 & 2019 ID19075), thanks to the involvement of Quisper Beneficiaries including EuroFIR AISBL (BE), shiftN (BE) and Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB – UK). The Quisper Server Platform (QSP) will facilitate access to personalised nutrition resources and tools to inform PERSFO outputs.
Currently, Quisper ASBL is working with SafeCape
, a Greek software development company, to link a digital food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) – developed by Eurogene and Food4Me – with QSP. This FFQ will be used during the 2021 PERSFO intervention study (subject to funding) in two workplace locations in Belgium, where Sodexo is responsible for delivering restaurant and canteen services.
Incorporation of new personalised nutrition resources to QSP reinforces the Association’s commitment to increase access to and re-use of scientifically robust resources for research and commercial exploitation. At the same time, participation of Quisper in PERSFO is essential to demonstrate applicability of such resources in a commercial setting (e.g. food service providers) and their potentially positive effects in supporting individuals’ dietary goals at work.
